HAVANT
In January we unwrapped an N gauge layout that was generously donated by someone who received it as a bequest from the British owner. ‘Havant’ is a fully landscaped 6′ x 4′ deep layout complete with vehicles and rolling stock. It has been repaired and is running, albeit needing a lot of track cleaning. The Club has adopted it, and will display it beside ‘Chuffingham’ at Supertrain, Railway’s Days at Heritage Park & other locations as posted.

2025 CANDY CANE GALA
ln the fall we were asked to display a layout at the Alberta Childrens Hospital’s ‘CANDY CANE GALA’, their major fundraiser. We chose to display a ‘blast from the past’ for many of our members, and put together an vintage 1950’s Hornby Dublo model train layout. It was a 44″ x 100″ double loop track plan (see below). We used both 1940/50’s track and rolling stock, and after trying and testing at ‘home’ it was finally assembled on site. Our theme was a Winter Wonderland, with snow covered ski & toboggan hills with tunnels, and a village with skaters on a frozen pond.
The Gala was held at the BMO centre at the end of November, and many children of all ages had fun controlling the trains.

This was designed as a ‘one time’ layout, so at the end of the Gala the track, rolling stock & buildings were returned to their homes, and the hills/tunnels etc. were disposed of. Many thanks to those members who helped build and run it on the day.
